In honor of National Healthy Skin Month, we’re focusing on how to keep skin healthy and clear while combatting dryness that comes with winter and colder weather. Skin is the largest organ in the body and requires as much, if not more, time as anything else to keep it healthy and hydrated. The healthier your skin, the younger you will look. Turning on the heat in the house will instantly dry your skin out. Ski trip on the books? Wind burn can wreak some serious havoc.

Here are some tips to help your skin look fresh during winter:

Start with a Healthy Base

A Vampire Facial uses your own platelets to rejuvenate your skin by restoring its tone and texture. Treatment for anti-aging involves micro-needling with Derma-fillers to improve wrinkles, volume-loss and enlarged pores in the face, hands, neck and chest area. Hydrate

Water is your friend. It helps eliminate toxins and improves the overall appearance of skin. The recommendation is half of your body weight in ounces daily, more if you are working out, sweating, drinking alcohol, etc.

SPF on Skin and Lips

The sun shines through year-round, especially in South Florida. Protect your skin from UV rays and serious damage by applying sunscreen prior to leaving the house. Don’t forget your lips which are really susceptible to dryness as well. We like Cotz Lip Balm with an SPF of 45.

Wash, Exfoliate, Moisturize, Repeat

Wash your face twice per day with a face wash that is right for your skin type. You may need to switch up your cleanser and other products this time of year to make sure they aren’t drying you out. Two to three times per week, exfoliate your face to get rid of dead skin cells. Choose a moisturizer that works for your skin tone and use it after you wash. Every single time.

Don’t Forget Your Hands and Feet

No one likes the look or feel of dry, peeling hands and feet. Be sure to exfoliate and moisturize them as well. You can also look into a dry brush which can remove dead skin and improve overall circulation.
